MiloPrep vs GARP books: features, cost and study fit
GARP books provide the official FRM curriculum; MiloPrep provides independent learning and practice. These serve different roles. Check what GARP Learning already includes with registration before buying extra books or a subscription, and keep the Part II online readings on your list.
| Dimension | GARP books | MiloPrep |

| Authority | Official curriculum from the exam administrator. | Independent preparation; does not define the exam syllabus. |

When GARP books may fit your study needs
Use the same task and the same stage of preparation when comparing resources. Features are not evidence of learning outcomes by themselves. The decision guidance below is our editorial interpretation of the listed tools.
| Your need | What to check |
|---|---|
| You need authoritative syllabus coverage | Start with GARP’s exam-year objectives, readings and errata. |
| You prefer paper | Compare the printed-book purchase with digital access already included. |
| You need more explanation or repetition | Add a resource only where it fixes a demonstrated learning gap. |
A practical comparison you can run
Choose one official learning objective. Read the assigned material, attempt a question and record the exact point of confusion. Compare an independent explanation against that task instead of replacing the syllabus with a provider’s marketing outline.
- 1
Attempt first
Use a question or example without opening the solution.
- 2
Read the explanation
Check whether it identifies the deciding fact and the tempting mistake.
- 3
Transfer
Change one input or assumption and solve it again.
- 4
Decide
Pay only for the function you still need: instruction, practice, review or support.
Compare the same preparation period
Book costs, registration fees, GARP Learning and independent subscriptions are separate purchases. A free sample PDF is not a free copy of the GARP curriculum.
For MiloPrep, the table calculates the listed subscription charges over three example preparation periods. It assumes continuous access at the current price on one billing cadence, excluding taxes and other purchases. Compare the vendor package’s actual access term and inclusions with the period you need.
| Access period | MiloPrep: monthly billing | MiloPrep: quarterly billing |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $147 | $99 |
| 6 months | $294 | $198 |
| 12 months | $588 | $396 |
What this comparison is based on
We checked the linked public provider pages on 10 October 2026 and used our own product catalog for MiloPrep. We have not purchased and benchmarked every package, independently verified vendor pass rates, or measured which bank is harder. Vendor descriptions establish advertised features, not comparative learning results.
Try the free online questions or the separate email-delivered PDFs to inspect our question and explanation style. Neither a short sample nor a feature table proves full-syllabus readiness.
Use official materials as the scope reference
Start with the exam-year learning objectives and reading assignments. The curriculum defines the required material; a third-party course is an interpretation and teaching aid. If an independent explanation simplifies an assumption, return to the assigned material to understand the qualification. A concise summary can be useful without being a complete substitute for the source.
Distinguish the textbook, digital learning access, official practice exams and additional required readings. They are separate resources with different functions and access conditions. For Part II in particular, owning the printed books should not be treated as evidence that you have gathered all the assigned online Current Issues papers.
A workable sequence is to identify the objective, read the relevant assigned material, attempt a problem and then use an additional explanation at the point of confusion. Keep your coverage record organized around objectives rather than the chapter names of whichever provider you happen to use.
Choose print, digital and extra practice separately
If you prefer paper, assess whether the printed edition matches your sitting and how you will record corrections or later curriculum changes. If you use digital access, check its end date against your exam window. A retake or deferred sitting can change the period for which you need materials, so do not assume that an earlier access arrangement continues indefinitely.
The printed-book price in the table is for the checked 2026 set. It is separate from exam registration and shipping. When planning a later exam year, verify the available edition before ordering. Buying a discounted older set can create additional work if its reading assignments no longer match.
Independent practice from MiloPrep can provide another place to apply a method and inspect an explanation. Our free PDFs are selected questions, not copies of the official books or full official mocks. Choose an additional resource because it supplies a learning function you need, while keeping the official scope reference intact.
| Purchase or access decision | Question to answer first |
|---|---|
| Printed curriculum | Is this the correct edition, and is paper useful to me? |
| Digital curriculum | What does my registration already include, and when does access end? |
| Independent preparation | Which explanation or practice gap will it address? |
Common questions
- Is MiloPrep affiliated with GARP books?
- No. This is an independent comparison. GARP books and the exam names belong to their respective owners.
- Which provider has the highest verified pass rate?
- This review does not establish that. Vendor claims and testimonials are not a controlled, like-for-like comparison.
- Can I use more than one resource?
- Yes, if they serve different needs. Keep an authoritative syllabus reference, then add instruction or practice where you have a specific gap.
